Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter NJOMZA has always walked her own path. A genre-bending artist whose sound seamlessly fuses pop, R&B, and electronic, she has captivated fans and collaborators alike with her raw lyricism, chameleon-like versatility, and bold creative instincts. From early co-signs by Mac Miller and Ariana Grande—who brought her into the global spotlight as a co-writer on chart-topping hits “7 Rings” and “thank u, next”—to recent features on Skrillex’s “Fuck U Skrillex” album (named one of Rolling Stone’s “Best Albums of 2025 So Far”), NJOMZA’s journey has been anything but conventional.
With her dreamy new single “Like You Do” ushering in a fresh chapter of artistic evolution, NJOMZA opens up to The Untitled Magazine’s Indira Cesarine about independence, reinvention, and finding power in vulnerability. Born in Germany to Kosovar-Albanian parents and raised in Chicago, her multicultural roots and kaleidoscopic influences have long shaped her sound—one that defies categorization but resonates deeply.
As she teases more music on the horizon—including high-energy collaborations and deeper explorations into her signature style—it’s clear that NJOMZA is embracing her next era with fearless authenticity, emotional depth, and a fierce sense of self. Read on for the full interview below:

You’ve carved out such a unique space in the music world with your genre-blending style. How would you describe your musical identity and how it has evolved over time?
I think that is something that is ever changing for me. It’s hard to pinpoint a description. My music evolves as I do. It’s interesting to look back on all the phases of my life and I’m excited to continue exploring music as life goes on.
Your new single “Like You Do” captures such raw emotion and nostalgia. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind this song and how it came to life in the studio?
I was falling in love and wanted to write about love. When I initially wrote the song it was a slower, less produced version of the song and I imagined it could be played at a wedding. My producer, Dish, sped it up and added more production which gave it some life when we came back to work on the song.
You’ve worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, like Mac Miller, Ariana Grande, Skrillex, and Louis the Child. How has collaborating with such influential artists shaped your approach to songwriting and performance?
I used to write alone but I love collaborating with other artists. It brings a perspective that you maybe would have never thought about. Everyone has their own thing and I love seeing worlds collide. It’s so much fun.
You recently featured on Skrillex’s album Fuck U Skrillex, which made it onto Rolling Stone’s “Best Albums of 2025 So Far.” What was it like working with him on the track “SAY GOODBYE!”? Can you share more details about that collaboration?
That’s so amazing for Skrillex! He’s the best. We have been long-time collaborators and I’m honestly so honored to be a part of that album. He took a song called “pretty bye bye” that we made a while back and also released and remixed it. Two completely different vibes but both are so good. It’s always great working with Skrillex. He’s one of the most talented people I know and always brings the best energy to the room.

Being born in Germany to Kosovar-Albanian parents and raised in Chicago, your upbringing seems to have influenced your music in unique ways. How does your multicultural background play a role in your music?
I think subconsciously I’m just drawn to a wider range of music. I grew up hearing Albanian music in the house all of the time and also living in Chicago where there was a huge rock and r&b/rap scene. All of it plays a role into the way I write and think about music.
Your debut EP “Sad For You” was highly praised, and your songwriting has always been deeply personal. Tell us about your process for songwriting? What inspires your lyric?
Sad for you! I was a baby. Sometimes I’m inspired by stories about me and sometimes it’s things I see my friends going through. I just go down the rabbit hole and create the world in a song. Songwriting is where I get my big emotions out. I’m sensitive but don’t show it so openly so every now and then I have to go cry in the booth haha.
Your new single is just the beginning of what’s next for you. Can you share a little bit about what your fans can expect from your upcoming music, especially as we approach the end of the summer?
I have some more upbeat dance records I love that will be coming out soon. I have a collaboration with Daniel Allen that I love so much – I’m really excited for everyone to hear it.

What is it about the dreamy, slow-burning ballad style of “Like You Do” that resonates with you as an artist right now? How does this track fit into your overall creative vision?
Like You Do feels like the best of both worlds for me when it comes to my love for writing ballads and my love for EDM music. The production gives it that upbeat energy while I get my little lover girl lyrics and melodies off. It resonates because it doesn’t feel limiting. As an artist, I like to bring the different worlds together and it’s something I look forward to continuing doing.
Fashion and personal style seem to be just as important to you as your music. How would you describe your current fashion aesthetic, and how does it reflect your artistic persona?
Yes haha I feel like I have changed quite a bit over the years. I think my current aesthetic is probably the most authentic that I have shown up. More me – natural, comfy, and calm. I like to focus on silhouettes and neutral/earthy tones.
