P.S. Art 2016: Celebrating the Creative Spirit of NYC Kids
The Met Fifth Avenue
1000 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10028
June 14 – Oct 23

For its ninth year, The Met will exhibit P.S. Art 2016: “Celebrating the Creative Spirit of NYC Kids”. The exhibition will feature 89 works and 90 student artists from public schools all over the city. . Within the P.S. Art exhibition there are artists from various skill levels and age groups that demonstrate how creativity and ability progress into adulthood. The show features a range of mediums, chosen from 1,205 submissions,  includes paintings, prints, sculptures, photographs, mixed-media works, collages, drawings, and video. Sandra Jackson-Dumont, the Museum’s Frederick P. and Sandra P. Rose Chairman of Education, was quoted saying, “The works of art in this exceptional exhibition represent a powerful combination of diverse perspectives, unique artistic voices, hard work, and supportive communities. We are thrilled to celebrate such a talented group of young artists and their families, and we are honored to have their imaginative work displayed on the walls of The Met.” This exhibition is just one way in which The Met continues to foster creativity and education in New York City students.

The annual exhibition will kick-off with an opening ceremony for the students, parents, and teachers on June 14th,  marking the City’s annual Museum Mile Festival, and run through October 23, 2016. There will also be several works from the exhibition that will be displayed for five days, June 22 – 26, on outdoor digital screens in Times Square, courtesy of the Times Square Advertising Coalition (TSAC).
