Grammy award-winning musician Pharrell Williams has been announced as the next artist to team up with German sportswear giant Adidas in a new campaign set to debut this summer. The 40-year-old musician and co-founder of the fashion label Billionaire Boys Club will bring an eco-friendly spin to his Adidas line, creating garments from Bionic Yarn, a sustainable, recycled material and company in which the artist is an investor.

Pharrell is no stranger to the fashion world. Aside from running his own label, the pioneer in upscale skate style is currently designing a collection for worldwide brand Uniqlo. He has also previously partnered with G-Star, Comme des Garcons, Moncler, Louis Vuitton, A Bathing Ape, Nike, and Reebok. He is thrilled to add Adidas to his list, stating that ‘Working with an iconic brand like Adidas is such an incredible opportunity. From the classic tracksuit, to growing up in Virginia wearing Stan Smiths, Adidas has been a staple in my life. Their pieces are timeless. This is an exciting partnership for both me and for Bionic Yarn.’

Adidas has previously collaborated with a series of noteworthy artists and fashion designers, including Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto, Stella McCartney, Opening Ceremony, Mark McNairy, Kanye West, Jeremy Scott, and Topshop. The brand is equally excited to collaborate with Pharrell, deeming him ‘perfect’ for the brand. Adidas’ sport style division global creative director Dirk Schoenberger stated, ‘I am truly thrilled to work with Pharrell. He is a pop-culture icon who never fails to inspire, not just through his musical talent and craft, but through his many other interests. He is the perfect fit for the multi-faceted company that is Adidas.’
