Prince is back. His last album release was back in 2010, which was the longest time Prince has gone without releasing any records since his debut album For You in 1978. On September 30th, 2014, he debuted two concurrent albums, both of which have already landed in the top ten on the Billboard 200. With 34 albums released, 26 tours, 30 top 40 singles, a SuperBowl Halftime Show, and multiple monikers including Jamie Starr, Christopher, Alexander Nevermind, The Purple One, Prince undoubtedly has a permanent place in music as an icon.
While Art Official Age is a solo album, Plectrumelectrum was made with his backing band, 3rdeyegirl. “Breakfast Can Wait,” the lead single of Art Official Age, exudes Prince’s trademark funky R&B and sensual style. Prince’s songs feel sexy, and some have come under criticism for having overtly sexual lyrics, notably the song “Darling Nikki,” off the Purple Rain soundtrack.
If you want the chance to see Prince live, stay tuned for upcoming dates of his world tour with 3rdeyegirl.
