On the 15th floor of the Grace Building in midtown Manhattan, Rachel Antonoff staged much more than just a fashion show or presentation: it was a full-blown musical. Starring the cast of dancers from “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” and her own brother, producer Jack Antonoff, the group performed a rendition of “A Secretary is Not a Toy” on February 12, 2016. Dressed in her quirky, new collection, Antonoff questioned the gender roles of women in the office, by having the decked out gal group hit on the male secretary (Jack Antonoff), rather than the other way around.
The models and dancers were clad in cutesy clothing with cheeky prints and vintage-esque frocks. Collars and cuffs of garments were decorated in graphics of lipstick tubes. Dresses were in fit and flare silhouettes and button-up blouses had fun prints, such as one with lipstick smudges across it. A few jumpsuits stood out as winning pieces of the collection: one the perfect daytime denim, another the perfect evening black, and the last perfectly pink corduroy. Always present in Antonoff’s collection are graphic tees, this season’s with office (in)appropriate sayings. Overall this quirky collection and it’s presentation was completely Antonoff and wonderfully fun.
