On the haute couture Spring/Summer 2015 Dior runway in Paris, the 60s were swinging. This Monday as Paris Fashion Week continued, Dior designer Raf Simons mixed past and present for a 21st century interpretation of the 1960s. Retro statement patterns adorned futuristic body suits and transparent space age coats covered metallic mini-dresses. With hair pulled back in pony tails and minimal makeup, the models walked in shining rubber go-go boots as David Bowie played. Full-skirt groovy gowns in bold colors were accented with metal ring cut-outs continuing the Spring/Summer trend of revealed midriff, yet contrasted the Chanel show, which focused on soft florals.
In the crowd at her reported very first couture show was Natalie Portman, a Dior face of fragrance. Speculation has already begun on which gowns shown Monday will be worn to the upcoming Academy Awards.
