REBEKKA RUETZ SPRING/SUMMER 2013 FASHION SHOW
July 4, 2012
In her second year showing at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin, Austrian designer Rebekka Ruetz created designs for “the right here, right now” woman. At only 27 years old, Ruetz created fashion forward pieces that hold ageless appeal. The opener was a layered white sheer dress with an embroidered silk overlay, the model clenching a bridal-esque bouquet of sunflowers in her hand. Makeup was simple, with only burnt orange lips (while hair was dramatic: and French braids that trailed down to the waist).
Waistlines, in fact, were a major focus in the collection. Oversized leather belts cinched grey jersey maxi dresses and floor length laser cut evening pieces. Yellow was used throughout the collection to offset and highlight the cool greys, champagne silks, and russet leather. Ruetz detailed the collection themed “Metamorphosis” with blazers and trousers of silk brocade, laser cut and empire waist tunics and gold zippers, hinting at a futuristic feel.
Ruetz graduated from AMD Fashion Academy in Munich in 2008 which lead to work for Peter Pilotto. She launched Rebekka Ruetz in 2009 and has been featured in German and British Vogue, Glamour, ELLE and Grazia.
