Azzedine Alaïa: Je Suis Couturier
Until June 10th, 2018
Association Azzedine Alaïa: 18 rue de la Verriere, Paris
An exhibition of 41 dresses by the late Azzedine Alaïa has opened in Paris at the designer’s showroom, the location of his last couture show. The retrospective was organized by the Association Azzedine Alaïa, a nonprofit founded in 2007 by the designer, his partner Christoph von Weyhe and Carla Sozzani. Olivier Saillard curated the show, picking from a rich archive dating back to the 1980s.

When Alaïa died, his friends closed his personal studio and apartment on the floor above in order to preserve it exactly as he left it. At some point, his colleagues and friends hope to open both floors to the public as a museum. They are also creating a bookstore that will sell volumes on Alaïa as well as his favorite designers and artists.
