Richie Rich brought a playful dose of nostalgia to New York Fashion Week on February 7th, 2025, with the Care Bears™ Loves Richerette collection. This new line, which marks the 20th anniversary of Richie’s original collaboration with the Care Bears under his Heatherette brand, brought the iconic characters into the modern era. Presented by Gen Art and produced by La Faye & Powell, the show was a fun, lighthearted celebration of the collaboration, blending Richie’s signature whimsy with the beloved, colorful world of the Care Bears.
Held at the DOM LOUNGE, located at 287 Park Ave S, the venue set the stage for a vibrant event that combined fashion with a touch of nightlife energy. The crowd included figures like rapper Ja Rule, designer Max Alexander, and Fern Mallis, all gathered to see how Richie would reimagine the Care Bears’ legacy.

Richie, known for his bold designs and Club Kid background, has always embraced fun, quirky concepts, and his Richerette collection was no different. “The Care Bears are very real to me, and I was thrilled to see them dancing down the runway in their own unique way,” he said of the show. “Twenty years ago, we created magic with Heatherette and Care Bears, and now, with Richerette, I’m excited to reimagine that magic in a whole new way. The Care Bears are like Club Kids—running around the world spreading love and having fun!”

The collection itself was a fun take on the Care Bears’ signature aesthetic, with each bear’s belly badge reimagined on printed tops and dresses, some even constructed from plush Care Bears themselves. The designs were colorful and playful, evoking the carefree spirit of the characters. Models paired these vibrant outfits with footwear from Ground Up’s Care Bears collection, including plush sneakers, slippers, and slides. Lidia Talavera’s custom high heels gave the show a bit of bold glamour, while makeup by Romana New York used bright, playful colors to echo the Care Bears’ rainbow theme.

The beauty looks, led by Gary Baker for UNITE, kept things on the whimsical side. The models’ daytime styles were sleek with a wet look, and for the evening, they wore colorful wigs that added to the fun vibe. Custom nail art by Bernadette Thompson reflected each bear’s personality, rounding out the playful atmosphere of the show.

After the runway, the crowd made their way to the afterparty at DOM LOUNGE, where DJ Matt J Hall spun tracks that kept the energy up long into the night. Richie Rich and the team joined guests in celebrating the collection, enjoying an open bar featuring Aupale Vodka, Davos Tequila, and Boxed Water Is Better.
Presented in partnership with Gen Art, the event echoed the organization’s long-standing mission to support bold, creative talent. Artistic Director Marc Harvey noted, “Collaborating with Richie Rich and Care Bears for this show perfectly embodies Gen Art’s focus on pushing boundaries and celebrating fearless creativity.”
