SECOND EDITION OF ART BASEL PARIS MARKS NEW ERA FOR THE CITY’S ART SCENE
Art Basel Paris returned to the Grand Palais for its second edition from October 24–26, 2025, welcoming over 73,000 visitors during its VIP and public days. The fair united 206 leading international galleries from 41 countries and territories, including 65 with spaces in France, underscoring Paris’s growing influence in the global art market.
Exhibitors reported robust sales across all market segments, with standout placements for Gerhard Richter, Amedeo Modigliani, Julie Mehretu, and Leiko Ikemura. The fair also highlighted rediscoveries of historic women artists such as Marie Bracquemond and Lee ShinJa, alongside emerging names including Yu Nishimura and Özgür Kar, signaling a renewed appreciation for both established and overlooked creative voices.

The fair’s three sectors—Galeries, Emergence, and Premise—offered a panorama of art history and innovation, featuring blue-chip masters like Peter Paul Rubens, Meret Oppenheim, and Edgar Degas; modern rediscoveries including Hector Hyppolite, Ella Bergmann-Michel, and Dadamaino; and contemporary innovators Latifa Echakhch, Otobong Nkanga, Ai Weiwei, and Xie Lei. Newcomers such as Ash Love, Precious Okoyomon, and Monia Ben Hamouda further expanded the fair’s narrative of artistic experimentation.
With representation from over 240 international museums and foundations, including the Centre Pompidou, Tate, Whitney Museum, MoMA, Fondation Beyeler, and Guggenheim, Art Basel Paris reaffirmed its status as a global meeting point for collectors, curators, and cultural leaders. The fair also drew high-profile visits from French President Emmanuel Macron, First Lady Brigitte Macron, and Minister of Culture Rachida Dati, highlighting the event’s cultural significance to France and beyond.

The Public Program, with Miu Miu returning as the official partner, activated nine venues across Paris. The creative re-hanging initiative “Oh La La!”, under the artistic direction of fashion journalist Loïc Prigent, embodied the fair’s dialogue between art, fashion, and performance.
Outgoing Director Clément Delépine reflected on the fair’s evolution:
“This second year at the Grand Palais has truly felt like coming home — the show has found its rhythm here, and its connection with the city has never felt stronger.”
As the event concluded, Art Basel announced Karim Crippa as the new Director of Art Basel Paris, assuming the role on November 1, 2025. Crippa will lead the fair into its next phase, working with the Ministry of Culture, GrandPalaisRmn, and the City of Paris to further solidify its standing as one of Europe’s most dynamic platforms for modern and contemporary art.
The next edition of Art Basel Paris will take place October 23–25, 2026.
