From April 5th through 7th, the eighth edition of the Women in the World Summit will bring together inspiring women from all corners of the globe to New York City for three days of conversation about the most pressing issues of today. Held at Lincoln Center in association with The New York Times, the summit will feature inspiring females (and feminist men), from CEOs to social justice warriors who will present their personal narratives and insights.
This year’s participants include Hillary Rodham Clinton, actress Scarlett Johansson; Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie; Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau; Tony Award-winning performer and writer Sarah Jones; President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Cecile Richards; Asst. Professor, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Dr. Annie Sparrow; Ambassador Melanne Verveer; Founder and Co-Chairman of DVF Studio, Diane von Furstenberg; journalist Masha Gessen; CEO & Co-founder of SOHO China, Zhang Xin; actress, writer, and activist Maria Bello; journalist and writer Zineb el Rhazoui; TV journalist and author Barkha Dutt; Chief Creative Officer & Founder of Badger & Winters, Madonna Badger; journalist, author and entrepreneur Arianna Huffington; CEO & Co-Founder of Ellevest, Sallie Krawcheck; New York Times Foreign Affairs columnist and author, Tom Friedman; TV journalist and women’s advocate, Gretchen Carlson; founder of Women for Women International, Zainab Salbi; and Nigerian activist and Founder of Kudirat Initiative for Democracy, Hafsat Abiola-Costello.
Singer, songwriter and activist, MILCK will perform at the opening and closing events of the Women in the World Summit. She first rose to prominence in January when she performed her resistance anthem, “Quiet” at the Women’s March on Washington. Other event highlights of the Women in the World Summit are a discussion between Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, author of We Should All Be Feminists and Americanah. The two contemporary women’s rights icons will talk about how to raise today’s children to challenge traditional gender roles. As part of the “She-Suite” component of the summit Arianna Huffington other prominent female media figures will discuss what it takes to break the glass ceiling in corporate America.
