Magnum Photos is celebrating 70 years of its significant contribution to photography and history by holding a number of events throughout New York City this month that present new and iconic work by established Magnum photographers.

The public seasons of events will be focused on Magnum’s three anniversary themes of community, witnessing history, and “Magnum Photos Now”. Events include exhibitions, screenings, panels, and sales, the special anniversary program will display the agency’s archival and contemporary work, highlighting the importance of the image in our changing world.

Some of the programs include the “Magnum Manifesto” exhibition that runs until September 3rd at the International Center of Photography. Curators Clément Chéroux and Clara Bouveresse demonstrate how Magnum Photos photographers navigate between photography as an art and as documentary evidence. The exhibition includes magazines, newspaper features, and letters, which puts some of the world’s most recognizable images in creative context.
