October 18 to 20, 2024

As the vibrant city of Paris prepares to host Art Basel 2024 this October, the art world is abuzz with anticipation for one of the premier international art fairs. Running from October 18 to 20, the event promises to be a feast for the senses, showcasing a diverse array of contemporary art from around the globe. This year, Art Basel Paris is set to deliver a fresh perspective on the evolving art landscape, featuring a blend of established names and emerging talent.

One of the standout features of Art Basel Paris 2024 is its emphasis on curated exhibitions that explore contemporary themes relevant to today’s societal context. This year, artists respond to global challenges, reflecting a shared journey of hope and transformation. Curators from leading institutions will present special exhibitions that encourage dialogue around pressing issues, including climate change, social justice, and identity. The show intends to “build bridges with France’s cultural industries to create a flagship event radiating throughout the city, embedded in its exceptional cultural ecosystem.”

Art Basel Paris will host an impressive roster of established galleries, alongside a selection of innovative newcomers. Expect to see major players in the contemporary art market, including Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, and Pace Gallery, presenting works from their most sought-after artists. Additionally, a curated section dedicated to emerging galleries will spotlight fresh voices in the art scene, providing a platform for new talent to shine.

The fair is split into three sectors. Galeries is the main exhibition sector of Art Basel Paris. It features galleries specializing in Modern and contemporary art, displaying work of exceptional quality including paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, photography, video, and digital art. The Emergence sector gathers exhibitors presenting young and emerging artists through solo presentations. Premise is the newest sector of the fair.

In a notable departure from previous years, Art Basel Paris 2024 will incorporate a significant performance art component. This initiative aims to engage audiences in immersive experiences that challenge traditional viewing practices. Live performances from renowned and emerging artists will take place throughout the fair, inviting attendees to witness the dynamic interplay between art and action.

As always, Art Basel Paris will host a series of panel discussions and talks featuring leading figures in the art world, including artists, curators, and collectors. These sessions will delve into topics ranging from the impact of digital technologies on art to the future of the art market post-pandemic. Participants can expect thought-provoking dialogues that shed light on the complexities of the contemporary art ecosystem.
