Damian Monzillio
No stranger to the creative arts, Damian Monzillo was nurtured by an actress mother and a musician father, exposing him to theater and music that included the influence of the New York stage and Rock and Roll. Think Fosse meets Hendrix.
Taking those roots to the School of Visual Arts in the Big Apple and after school, the legendary music clubs of the Lower East side. Think Mohawks meeting Magritte. He found his muse and it was Hair. No not the musical, the follicle.
Like so many others the cry of Go West, Young Man, took root in Damian’s soul and landed him in San Francisco, just in time for the Dot Com Boom when technology and creativity fused with the energy of a Nevada test site. Music was always there and so were musicians. And they found a friend in Mr. Monzillo.
With a comb and curling iron in hand he stood shoulder to shoulder with the drummers and guitar players who wanted it louder and flashier. More spray and more sparkle.
Staffing at the very chic downtown salon of Elizabeth Arden, Damian excelled and soon became Artistic Director and Platform Artist for EA and the world class, Graham Webb International, leading seminars and shows nationally.
A move south brought him to his natural habitat, Hollywood! The lucky landing place was the trendy Lather Beauty Lounge awash with celebs and a showplace for local sculptors, photographers and painters.
Clientele has included: Kate Moss, Dita Von Teese, Kirk Hammet, Juliette Binoche and Kevin Bacon. And don’t forget those photo shoots for Future Claw, Blank and UK Grazia.
