On view:
June 21 – August, 2019
25 Kent
25 Kent Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11249
A new art exhibition is going on view in Williamsburg this week at the 25 Kent office and event space. Showcasing the best of New York’s iconic graffiti art, “Beyond the Streets“ is displaying works from over 120 New York-based street artists.
John Ahearn, Maya Hayuk and Lady Pink are some of the featured artist expected to present in the exhibition. Alongside performances, lectures and films to compliment the art, Beyond the Streets is expected to be the largest collection of museum-quality street art currently on display.
Originally showcasing in Los Angeles, the exhibition emphasizes the use of the streets as an urgent form of artist expression. Often used as a stage for public discourse concerning politics, socioeconomic conditions and societal protests, graffiti art is a foundation for anonymous action in urban communities.
More notable artists partaking in the exhibition include: Guerrilla Girls, Felipe Pantone, André Saraiva, Kenny Scharf and Lisa Kahane. To see the full list of featured artists, click here.
