This week, 19-year-old singer, Billie Eilish revealed details on her highly anticipated sophomore album, titled Happier Than Ever which will release on July 30, 2021. The 16-track studio album follows her multi-Grammy Award-winning and record-breaking debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? which was released in 2019. Similar to its predecessor, Happier Than Ever features no outside songwriters or producers as it was written completely by Eilish and her brother, Finneas, who produced the album in Los Angeles.
“This is my favorite thing I’ve ever created and I am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it,” Eilish said in an Instagram post. “I can’t even tell you. I’ve never felt so much love for a project than I do for this one. Hope you feel what I feel.”
The singer further went on to reveal that she will drop a new single from the album this Thursday, April 29. Previously released tracks My Future (2020) and Therefore I Am (2020) will also be featured on the album.
Eilish proved to be a force in the music industry, rising to fame as a young teenager and going on to win five of the six Grammys she was nominated for last year for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? – including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist. She added two more Grammys to her collection this past March for Record of the Year for the second year in a row for her song, Everything I Wanted, and Best Song Written for Visual Media with her James Bond track No Time to Die.

It’s apparent that her new album, Happier Than Ever, has an extreme changeup in theme, with Eilish trading in her jet black hair and neon green roots and horror movie style for a platinum blonde do and a neutral, heavenly aesthetic. In a February 2021 interview with Stephen Colbert, Eilish discussed creating an album during lockdown.
“I just don’t think I would’ve made the same album or even the album at all if it weren’t for COVID,” she said. “That doesn’t mean it’s about COVID, at all. It’s just that when things are different in your life, you’re different.”
Happier Than Ever will be released via Darkroom/Interscope Records and will also be available as Deluxe and Super Deluxe box-sets, as well as in two exclusive color-way vinyl, cassettes, photo-books, and CDs. Check out the tracklist below:
