CORRIE NIELSEN – BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Corrie Nielsen used her Fall 2012 show as an opportunity to explore her personal heritage. Nielsen drew from the Vestiarium Scoticum, a medieval encyclopedia of clothing designs and patterns, and the story of her great, great, great grandfather, John S. Burns, who moved from America to Scotland during the Revolutionary War, to create her looks. The collection pays homage to traditional English and Scottish dress, while remaining true to Nielsen’s signature sculptural aesthetic. It is this meticulous attention to form and design that got Nielsen a position at Vivienne Westwood and won her the Fashion Fringe competition by John Galliano in 2010.
