Doug Aitken – 100 Years. Part 2
303 Gallery
547 W 21 Street
New York NY 10011
April 2 – 6
From April 2-6, Doug Aitken will stage a time based destruction installation at 303 Gallery. Each day a group of workers will systematically dismantle the space using tools like drills, saws and sledgehammers as percussive instruments. The performance will create a living exhibition over this time. As the week progresses the accumulation of debris and altering of the architecture will completely transform the gallery space. This unique event will begin Tuesday, April 2nd and there will be a closing reception on Saturday, April 6th from 6-8pm with a final performance by the percussionists. After April 6th, the gallery will be closed to the public as the exhibition continues, concluding with the complete destruction of the space.
