Frieze London
The Regent’s Park, London
October 9-13, 2024

Frieze London 2024 will occur from October 9-13 in The Regent’s Park, featuring a bold new design by A Studio Between. The fair emphasizes artists and discovery, with a reconfigured layout that highlights curated sections like Artist-to-Artist and the new themed section, Smoke. Upon entering, visitors will encounter two stands showcasing exceptional solo artist presentations, selected annually by the Frieze London committee to ensure new voices gain visibility.

The program includes special projects and activations such as the Frieze London Artist Award and collaborations with key UK arts organizations and public institutions.

“Visitors this year will find the fair reimagined, with solo presentations and emerging artists front and centre, in a demonstration of Frieze’s commitment to the most exciting art being made today. Our new layout also features more spots for conversation and exchange. These changes promise fresh experiences and new perspectives.”

– Eva Langret, Director of Frieze London

Frieze London 2024 will host over 160 galleries from 43 countries, including prominent London galleries like Arcadia Missa, Sadie Coles HQ, and White Cube. International galleries such as Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, and David Zwirner will also be featured. The diverse gallery representation highlights the fair’s global reach and significance in the contemporary art world.

The Artist-to-Artist section, introduced in 2023, returns as a key part of the fair. This selection features six solo presentations selected by renowned artists like Hurvin Anderson and Yinka Shonibare. The Artist-to-Artist section fosters connections across Frieze’s global network and supports new voices in the art community.

The newly themed section, Smoke, organized by Pablo José Ramírez, will showcase ceramic works exploring diasporic and indigenous histories. The section will include solo presentations by artists such as Manuel Chavajay and Noé Martínez, emphasizing ceramics as a significant contemporary art form. Smoke pays tribute to Humberto Ak’abal’s story, “El Animal Humo,” exploring themes of ancestry and material witness to migratory movements.

Focus, a section dedicated to young galleries, will have a more prominent placement this year. Presented in collaboration with Stone Island, Focus supports emerging talent and features new spaces defining London’s vibrant gallery scene. This section will include local galleries like Brunette Coleman and international exhibitors such as 56 Henry from New York.

Editions, a section featuring limited-edition artworks by leading international artists, will offer opportunities for new audiences to collect art at affordable prices. This initiative aims to make art collecting more accessible to a broader audience.

London-based artist and filmmaker Lawrence Lek has been awarded the 2024 Frieze London Artist Award. His work, often addressing the moral dilemmas of AI, explores the creative potential of digital worldbuilding. Frieze London has commissioned an installation by Lek as part of his prize. The commissioned installation, Guanyin: Confessions of a Former Carebot, reflects on the social and emotional impact of AI by combining narrative worldbuilding and mechanical sculpture.

Eva Langret expressed anticipation for Lek’s commission, highlighting its engagement with contemporary issues around AI. The Frieze London Artist Award continues to promote artist-centered programming, showcasing innovative works that address complex modern themes. The 2024 edition of Frieze London promises to deliver a dynamic and forward-thinking art fair experience.
