Tara Subkoff’s “Imitation” fashion show, or “This Is Not A Fashion Show” was as much a presentation of her work as it was a political statement about the nature of vanity. The showcase, housed at New York’s Bortolami Gallery, had models bedecked in mini skirts, nude heels and flowing silk dresses in oranges and reds. However, it was also part performance art, as mirrors lined every wall, making it impossible for one not to be looking at him or herself at any turn. Additionally, models were at times in various states of undress, or simply wearing beige leotards.
