Kesh “LJUS2”
Catherine Ahnell Gallery
66 Grand Street, New York, NY 10013
January 14 – February 14, 2016
English artist KESH is currently displaying her first New York solo show, entitled ‘LJUS2’.
The 29-year-old recently unveiled the highly anticipated collection of art works to the city’s creative crowd. Among those in attendance were artists Jeanette Hayes and Sophie Oakley, fashion designer Genevieve Jones, musician Dev Hynes, aka ‘Blood Orange’ and model Nane Feist.
KESH follows in the footsteps of Tali Lennox (daughter of legendary singer Annie), Ahn Sun Mi and Rebecca Dayan, as the latest emerging female artist to showcase her work at the Catherine Ahnell Gallery.
KESH, real name Kesshia Kumari, works mostly in a monochromatic color scheme, favouring bold, graphic and edgy shapes and symbols, including her signature eye motif.
Interestingly, the Los Angeles based 29-year-old lived within the Catherine Ahnell Gallery for one month prior to the exhibit, just like her counterparts. KESH transformed the Grand Street space into her home to allow potential buyers an insight into her creative process.
The KESH solo exhibit will run until Valentine’s Day, Sunday February 14.
A regular fixture at Art Basel Miami Beach, KESH continues to be a darling of the fashion world, thanks to her breakthrough collaboration with American Apparel in 2013.
Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Kanye West, Prince Wiz Khalifa, Nicki Minaj and designers such as Jeremy Scott are amongst her loyal fans.
