“LOUISE BOURGEOIS: AN UNFOLDING PORTRAIT”
The Museum of Modern Art
September 24, 2017-January 28, 2018
11 West 53 Street, New York, NY 10019
Beginning September 24, 2017, The Museum of Modern Art brings us a new exhibit about the creative process and works of Louise Bourgeois. The exhibit, entitled “Louise Bourgeois: An Unfolding Portrait”, does not have simply one medium. The pieces range from prints and illustrated books to drawings and pieces made from garment and household fabric. This is to emphasize each unique inspiration she utilized in her work. “Her prints and illustrated books will be seen in the context of related sculptures, drawings, and paintings, and within thematic groupings that explore motifs of architecture, the body, and nature, as well as investigations of abstraction,” states the museum regarding the show. This exhibit will run until January 28, 2018, giving you plenty of time to immerse yourself in the process of a widely celebrated artist.
Bringing together some 220 works, the exhibition celebrates the Museum’s archive of Bourgeois prints as well as the completion of the online catalogue raisonné, Louise Bourgeois: The Complete Prints & Books, ultimately documenting over 4,600 printed sheets in all.
