Hauser & Wirth Gallery presents ‘Passing Leap‘, a group exhibition featuring works by artists Sebastian Black, John Houck, Shana Lutker, Dave McDermott, Brian O’ Doherty, Barbara Probst, Sarah VanDerBeek, Claudia Wieser, and Hague Yang.
The title of the exhibition comes from the name of a trapeze trick. A ‘passing leap’ is a maneuver that takes great skill in which an aerialist’s perspective is flipped, time is suspended, and the laws of physics seem to be broken.
The artists included in this exhibition are all connected through the same interest of challenging the relationship between art and the viewer. Each artist featured collapses the constraints of time and space in order to create alternative realities, environments and perception.
While this multi-media exhibit covers a diverse range of artists the goal is the same – to evolve viewers from the role of an audience member into the role of a participant. ‘Passing Leap‘ places viewers in a position of helping them resolve open-ended narratives, distorted perspectives, spotty memories, and false histories.
