“The Unconscious Lens” by Alison Nguyen
Unconscious Lens
Bosi Contemporary
August 27-30, 2014
On August 27, Bosi Contemporary will present Unconscious Lens, a group exhibition curated by Roya Sachs. This show’s theme is an interesting one – each photographer is attempting to uncover the different realms of the Unconscious and Conscious world (revolving around Freudian theory) by using various techniques and concepts of their optical lens. Each photographer uses a different attempt, creating a unique collection of interpretations. Participating artists include Najib Aschrafzai, Rosanna Bach, Mike Fernandez, Gabriele Giugni, Alison Nguyen, and Anh Thuy Nguyen.
The opening night of the exhibition will include a unique performance of La Mamma Morta by Mithra Mastropierro and Katherina Tsirakis.
RED HOT
Bosi Contemporary
September 3-14, 2014
On September 3, Bosi Contemporary will present the very first RED HOT exhibition in America. RED HOT, created by Thomas Knights, is a collection of large-format photographs of red headed males. The images reflect on the inequality of gender and preconceived limitations of red heads, while visually stimulating the eye by focusing on the use of complimentary colors. Through this ongoing exhibition, Knights hopes to recreate the idea of the “ginger” male and to suppress the idea of seeing red heads as targets for bullying. Along with the exhibition, Knights will attend the opening reception from 8-9 PM for the signing of his new book, RED HOT 100.
