STEFFIE CHRISTIAENS – PARIS F/W 2012 FASHION SHOW
Working at the atelier of avant-garde houses Balenciaga and Maison Martin Margiela has finely honed Dutch designer Steffie Christiaens construction and imagination, clearly influencing her Fall 2012 collection inspired by ice. Christiaens imagined her designs as ice that had been corrupted by pollutants, in gray, black, and white, pierced by two red looks meant to denote a kiss left by Snow White on the snow. The silhouettes featured jackets and tops with cutouts at the shoulder and abdomen and pieces that mixed extremely architectural shapes with a slight, loose, draping. The final looks in all white were the standouts of the collection, featuring ornate, porcupine detailing that creates impressive structural dimension.
