Urs Fischer
Gagosian Gallery
VIA FRANCESCO CRISPI 16
00187 ROME
September 19 – October 26
Gagosian Gallery Rome is presenting exhibition of new works by Urs Fischer. The Swiss artist will exhibit for the first time in Rome. Continuously searching for new sculptural solutions, Fischer deconstructs objects and then replicates them, rethinking the space through the experimentation of materials and forms while keeping a mordant irony. Reinvesting traditional art historical genres (still life, portraits, nudes and landscapes) with an abundance of rich and surprising forms, he ceaselessly explores the intersection of art and everyday life.
Urs Fischer (1973, Zurich) lives and works in New York. His work is included in many important public and private collections worldwide. Recent major exhibitions include: “Kir Royal,” Kunsthaus Zurich (2004); “Not My House Not My Fire,” Centre Pompidou, Paris (2004); “Marguerite de Ponty,” New Museum, New York (2009–10); “Oscar the Grouch,” The Brant Foundation, Greenwich, Connecticut (2010–11); “Skinny Sunrise,” Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna (2012); and “Madame Fisscher,” Palazzo Grassi, Venice (2012); as well as having participated to the Biennale di Venezia 2003, 2007, 2011. “Urs Fischer,” is currently on show at the Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles, through August 19, 2013.
