VIVIENNE TAM – NEW YORK – SPRING / SUMMER 2013 FASHION SHOW
Vivienne Tam’s love of Chinese cosmology fit the larger themes NYFW was seeing most, which was a return to geometry, most specifically circular design. The five elements played the largest roll in the designer’s Spring/Summer line, with lace, broderie and crochet patchwork, and tiny floral silks and chiffons. As always, the runway was the perfect place to play with proportions, as Tam paired tight-fitting waistcoats and short jackets with loose trousers cuffed around the ankle. Scandinavian electro-rock dominated most of the soundtrack, making for a unique pairing with the almost entirely Chinese-inspired line.
