VOLTA New York
May 18-22, 2022
548 West 22nd Street
Following the announcement of its return to New York in a new location, VOLTA has released its full exhibitor list for the forthcoming edition. The fair presents a vibrant cohort of 49 national and international galleries, providing its roster of exhibitors with a platform to present cutting-edge presentations in art market capitals. The fair will take place from Wednesday, May 18 to Sunday, May 22.
The fair was established with the intention of providing a foundational platform for dynamic younger and middle-market galleries seeking participation in the art world’s major cities. Within a stratified art world, which often sees success at the emerging and blue-chip levels but proves more channeling for middle-market players, VOLTA seeks to address this critical chasm yielding opportunities for galleries in this sector to assert their role within the existing trade show nexus.
With both new and returning exhibitors, this year’s fair stands to reintroduce VOLTA to the New York market as a platform for discovery for both aspiring and seasoned collectors alike, prioritizing one-on-one connection between visitor and exhibitor, while also fostering long-term relationships with collector’s key to galleries’ continued success. As an extension of this intention, VOLTA will also provide a platform for established galleries to show their younger artists in a more experimental forum, including galleries such as Leila Heller (New York/Dubai), Galerie Ernst Hilger (Vienna), Ethan Cohen (New York), and INDA Gallery (Budapest).
The fair will coincide with the Frieze Art Fair, located a few blocks north of VOLTA’s new location at 548 West, the former Dia building and Hauser & Wirth gallery space in Chelsea. This transition ushers a new chapter for VOLTA, which joined the Ramsay Fairs family in 2019 with a refreshed vision to reintroduce the fair as a global art destination for considered curation and creative discovery.
For its 2022 New York edition, VOLTA will host solo and group presentations from galleries in Beirut, Budapest, Istanbul, London, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Santa Fe, Tokyo, Toronto, Washington DC, and Vienna, among others.
