The Byrd Hoffman Water Mill Foundation celebrates its 23rd Annual Summer Benefit & Auction with their event entitled, FADA: HOUSE OF MADNESS. On July 30, the Watermill Center will be filled with over 1,000 guests ready to see the installations and performances from the Watermill’s International Summer Program participants that come from over 25 countries to create artwork. This year, the Watermill Center announced that they will honor philanthropist Madame Giancarla Berti for her support and funding towards Watermill at the event.
The eight-acre grounds will feature the Watermill Center’s collaboration with The Bruce High Quality Foundation’s piece As We Lay Dying. One of the other featured installations is Constellation in Red, Yellow and Blue, which is a light sculpture by G.T. Pellizzi.
There will be a variety of work being done across the landscape with music by international singer, ANOHNI, playing in the background. Her sound installations are expected to set the tone for the whole evening.
“In tribute to the extraordinary philanthropist and Watermill supporter Madame Giancarla Berti, I am honored to collaborate with international artists ANOHNI, The Bruce High Quality Foundation, Shaun Gladwell and Pussy Riot, alongside our emerging Summer Program artists,” -Robert Wilson, Founder/Artistic Director of The Watermill Center.
The Watermill Center’s Annual Summer Benefit & Auction is one of the Hampton’s most anticipated charitable events and largest fundraisers of the year. Previous year’s included themes such as “Circus of Stillness” and “One Thousand Nights and One Night: Sleepless Nights of Sheherazade.” Proceeds support the year-round Artist Residency and Education Programs, which provide artists with unique opportunities to explore and develop new artistry.
The FADA: HOUSE OF MADNESS will begin at 6pm and will lead into a dinner and silent auction, followed by an after party at 10pm. Also expect to see skateboarding and other active performances from Shaun Gladwell taken from his film Skateboarders vs. Minimalism which premiered at the Sydney Festival earlier this year. Artsy will be hosting an online preview of the auction that will launch on July 18th at noon. Be sure to grab your ticket which is still available on the Watermill Center website until Friday. July 29 at 6pm.
