ALEXANDRE HERCHCOVITCH – NEW YORK – SPRING / SUMMER 2013 FASHION SHOW
Alexandre Herchcovitch’s 2012 NYFW runway was deeply influenced by Boy George and the Culture Club ethos, evident in the soundtrack that accompanied his models, as well as the styles that adorned them. Every piece had some element harkening back to the androgynous pop star’s inimitable looks, from plaid Annie Hall hats to blocky tees and dresses featuring hearts. The designer’s nod to the era was certainly not missed; nor, however, was his effort to re-imagine the clothes for a modern woman. His perfectly tailored suits in checkerboard-writ-large prints, as well as his brightly colored trenches, and unique graphics all spoke to the fact that this collection was not about nostalgia, but rather homage and inspiration.
