Clic Bookstore & Gallery will host an in-store book signing for the launch of Antoine Verglas’s new book of photography, Show Girl. Antoine Verglas is a Parisian-born, New York-based fashion photographer who got his start as a host on a popular French TV show. After moving to New York in the 90s, Verglas began shooting personal portraits of top models at home, such as Stephanie Seymour, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Shiffer and Cindy Crawford, for a photo series that appeared in French Elle. The intimacy and documentary style of his photography quickly led him to become one of the most sought after fashion photographers, with his work appearing in Elle, Esquire, GQ, Maxim, Sports Illustrated and Vogue, just to name a few. His new book Show Girl, released by Gravure, follows top American model Lindsay Ellingson as she takes on the rold of Las Vegas performer, Kinetic. The photographs are voyeuristic and intimate without being crude or vulgar, portraying the sort of elegant sensuality Verglas is known for. The images of Ellingson project the feeling of a blown-out 1970s fashion editorial while maintaining a modern glamor and sense of mystery.
