Founded seven years ago today, The Orchid Foundation is poised to grant free college educations to the underserved girls in its program with the art world coming to its aide.

Through October 10th on VU, Artists for the Orchid Foundation is set to a raise scholarship fund for its “Orchids” with heavy weights Thomas Houseago, Kara Walker, Ed Ruscha, Lorna Simpson and Alfredo Jaar to name a few.

Organized by founder Nichole Galicia and artist Beatrice Scaccia, the dynamic duo is supported by their impressive board which counts movie star Chris Pine amongst it members. The Orchid Foundation is small but mighty. They provide a myriad of programs for their girls which includes access to a tutor from high school through college, financial literacy, coding, internships, sisterhood and more.
“Our goal is not to get bigger, but rather go deeper with each girl we serve.” -Nichole Galicia, actress (Mayor of Kingstown) and founder of The Orchid Foundation
