“Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton”
October 27, 2017 – January 7, 2018
American Stock Exchange Building: 86 Trinity Place, New York
Curated by accomplished fashion historian Olivier Saillard, Louis Vuitton‘s exhibition “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez” has arrived in New York City following stints in Paris, Tokyo and Seoul. The show traces the history of the iconic French design house from 1854 to the present and features portraits of Vuitton’s founders, pieces from the house’s heritage archives, work helmed by recent Vuitton designers including current artistic director Nicholas Ghesquière, and set design by Robert Carsen. The exhibit is divided into ten chapters (one of which focuses entirely on New York City) and opens with the most symbolic object of the house, the trunk. It ends with a display devoted to the artisans working in Louis Vuitton workshops today.
