EXPERIENCE FREE MOVIE MAGIC IN NYC PARKS THIS SUMMER FROM ‘MEAN GIRLS’ TO ‘SCHOOL OF ROCK’

Summer is now upon us! With warm weather finally hitting New York City, NYC Parks are hosting free summer movie nights across all the boroughs. What better way to spend time with friends and family than to have a movie night under the stars? Here are some of the parks that are hosting free movie nights: 

Brooklyn Bridge Park

Starting July 11th, Brooklyn Bridge Park is partnering with Pluto TV to celebrate their 24th season of “Movies With A View.” Free outdoor movies will be shown on Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn every Thursday from July to August. Some films that will be screened include Mean GirlsPulp Fiction and Past Lives. There will also be a variety of food trucks and vendors. On August 29th, the final night, guests are encouraged to vote for their favorite movie on “Public Choice Night.” 

Bryant Park

On June 10th, “Movie Nights at Bryant Park” began. For their 31st season, Bryant Park has partnered with Paramount+ to screen a plethora of movies for the public for free. Films include Old SchoolTitanic and How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. The lawn opens at 5:00 pm while the movies start at 8:00 pm, so you have plenty of time to grab a snack from the Hester Street Fair. “Movie Nights at Bryant Park” will be running until August 12th. 

Randall Island’s Park

Randall Island Park is hosting one last movie night on August 9th in partnership with the Randall Island Park Alliance. They will be showing Elemental at 7:00 pm, but will have plenty of games and activities before the movie starts. Perfect for the whole family!

Prospect Park

“Paramount+ Movie Nights in Brooklyn,” a series ranging across various parks in the Borough of Trees, is returning to Prospect Park. Starting on July 31st, Prospect Park will screen various movies until July 17th. Some of the films will be CluelessSchool of Rock and Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Arc. The movies will be screened at the north end of the Prospect Park Long Meadow, located nearest to the Grand Army Plaza and Third Street Entrance.

Union Square Park

As a part of “Summer in the Square,” movie nights at Union Square Park will begin on July 15th. A vast range of movies will be shown at the park until August 1st. Some selections include Jurassic ParkLittle Shop of Horrors and Moonstruck. Showings will begin at 8:00 pm and will be located on the central lawn.
