The photos from Kristen Stewart’s first Chanel campaign have finally been released after the announcement back in 2013 that she would become the new face of the brand. (The campaign was leaked via an Instagram account for a brief moment and then the entire account disappeared.) The photos, shot by Karl Lagerfeld, capture very perfectly the aesthetic of Paris and Dallas and proceed to go a step further by mixing the two muses together to form a new breed of hard-to-define edginess. K Stew’s cornrows combined with the oh-so-Parisian fringe and feathers meld together so beautifully that one begins to believe that Dallas might actually be a city not to far from France’s capital city.
This is not the first time that the 23 year old actress has been named the face of a leading fashion house. She was named the face of Balenciaga‘s Florabotanica in 2012. She even went topless in the add that featured the actress wearing little else than some carefully placed man-made flowers and vines, posing solemnly behind a bottle of the fragrance. The Chanel campaign isn’t set to launch until May, so it’s hard to say whether or not these photos truly reveal the full scope of the Chanel X KStew campaign. Even so, we’re enjoying a glimpse at the looks and looking forward to seeing the real photos once they officially surface. In the meantime we’ll be teaching ourselves how to perfectly cornrow our hair à la Kristen.
