The Minneapolis Institute of Art will hang or display every work of art submitted for their once-in-a-decade “Foot in the Door” exhibition, as long as it meets the size criteria. Started as a way to give new, young artists their first guaranteed show, the exhibition has drawn huge crowds since its conception is 1980.
All of the art submitted must be a cubic foot or less, quite literally letting artists get their foot in the door of the Minneapolis gallery scene. The 2010 “Foot in the Door 4” exhibition saw a significant increase in both public attendance and artists submissions, with over 4,800 works going on display.
More information on the submission process for “Foot in the Door 5” will be available on the Minneapolis Institute of Art website starting in January. Submissions are expected to be accepted during the spring of 2020.
