The launch of Hailey Bieber’s anticipated skincare, Rhode, is finally here. On June 15th, 2022, the skincare was released for sale in the United States after built-up anticipation for the past two years. Bieber, a 25-year-old model, is known for her glowy, flawless skin, making the launch of the brand promising.
The skincare line consists of three products, all under the price of $30. Bieber wanted to prioritize making her skincare available for all incomes. On her website, the company mission is stated through the values of simplicity, affordability, authenticity, quality, and transparency.
The three products released include the Peptide Glazing Fluid, Barrier Restore Cream, and Peptide Lip Treatment, which have a waitlist for restock. The products focus on the themes of “juicy,” “hydrated,” and “glazed” and are formulated based on research for clean, safe ingredients, suitable for all skin types. Furthermore, Rhode has a skincare advisory board consisting of two doctors, Dr. Ron Robinson (cosmetic chemist) and Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali (dermatologist), to help lead the way for effective, safe products.
The first product, Peptide Glazing Fluid, is a daily lightweight glaze serum. The benefits include plumping, hydration, and illuminating features while supporting the skin barrier. The product consists of niacinamide, peptides, hyaluronic acid, and marula oil.
The second product, Barrier Restore Cream, is a lightweight cream moisturizer. The benefits include soothing and comforting the skin barrier, along with nourishing and hydrating the skin. The product consists of shea butter, squalane, peptides, aćai, and niacinamide.
The third product, Peptide Lip Treatment, is a restorative treatment to hydrate and plump the lips. The benefits include the replenishing of lips while locking in moisture and softness. The product consists of shea butter, peptides, cupuaçu, and babassu. It comes in three flavors: unscented, salted caramel, and watermelon slice.
Rhode is also cruelty free, vegan, gluten free, dermatologist tested and developed; branding the skincare to be clean and beneficial for all skin types. Rhode sent packages to content creators and celebrities to promote the release. Many of these content creators reviewed the products, most of which are overwhelmingly positive concerning the ingredients, innovation, and pricing.

Additionally, The Rhode Future Foundation has partnered with three organizations: Accion Opportunity Fund, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, and the LIFT Family Goal Fund to support 1000 women and their families in 2023. Specifically, to help women of color including non-binary, trans, non-cis, and all women-identified persons. Rhode committed a minimum of 1% sales profit to support these organizations. The foundation has three pillars: women’s health now, guaranteed income for moms, and the future of work.
Celebrity makeup and skincare brands are immensely popular right now, bringing up concerns about the quality of Rhode. However, with the immediate sell-out of the products and praise reviews, it seems as though most of the consumers trust Bieber, due to her career in modeling and flawless skin. With celebrity competitor brands such as Rare Beauty and Kylie Cosmetics, will Rhode keep up with the competition?
