Mary J. Blige unveiled her new single “Thick Of It” through Capitol Records, co-written by Jazmine Sullivan, this past week. The song promotes the impending arrival of her forthcoming full-length album, Strength Of A Woman, landing later this year.
Says Blige of the new single:
“This song is so personal it’s almost painful to let it out. I don’t hold back though, it’s not who I am and there’s no way I am going to start changing now.” -Mary J Blige
This single comes after the recent news of Blige’s divorce from husband of twelve years, and manager, Martin “Kendu” Isaacs. However a spokesperson says it will not affect any of her work, and Blige has even landed a role on How to Get Away With Murder, and recently interviewed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for her talk show on Apple Music.
As far as the future goes, look for Blige to perform new material when she hits the road on the King + Queen of Hearts World Tour, co-headlining with Maxwell, the first time the two have ever toured together. It starts November 5th in Baltimore, and concludes December 14th in Chicago, hitting plenty of major cities in between.
