DUST
Flowers Gallery, London
September 9th – October 11th, 2014
This September, Flowers Gallery will present a solo exhibition by London-based photographer Nadav Kander. The show, entitled DUST, explores Kander’s three-year survey of secret Soviet scientific cities and missile test sites. These locations unveil the “closed” cities on the border between Kazakhstan and Russia – areas of destruction where some still reside. Through his photographs, Kander pushes the exploration of the darker side of mankind and nature. Stated by Will Self – an English author and journalist – “These images do not make beautiful what is not, they ask of us that we repurpose ourselves to accept a new order of both the beautiful and the real.”
Coinciding with the exhibition in London, Kander will also be showing his work at Torch Gallery in Amsterdam November 27, 2014-January 4, 2015. Additionally, he has released his book, Dust, which includes text by himself, Will Self, and poet Ted Hughes.
