Paris Photo will hold its 2014 Fair in Paris’ historical Grand Palais from the 13th to the 16th of November. Over the years, it has become the premier international art fair for works in the photographic medium, and this year, it will play host to 169 galleries and art book dealers. Paris Photo attracts collectors and art world professionals from all over the world, as well as photography enthusiasts. Besides the regular show, there will be several special exhibitions including the following:
-The “Private Collection” exhibition introduces visitors to the pioneering role played by private collectors who, driven by their own passion and perseverance, gather masterpieces and develop new approaches.
– The “Recent Acquisitions” exhibition presents new photography collections from international institutions.
– “Open Book” honors the role of the photobook in the history of the medium.
– “Camera As Release” examines the photographer as performer and will be culled from the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection.
– “Acqua #5,” is an exhibit by Giorgio Armani, the fifth edition of the Acqua exhibition, dedicated to the theme of water in photography. It questions the notion of limits in the representation of water.
The PhotoBook Awards will be given at the Paris Photo Fair, celebrating the ever evolving role of the photobook in the narrative of photography. The selected works will be presented in The Photobook Review 007, a bi-annual publication by Aperture that was launched at Paris Photo 2011. After Paris Photo, the exhibition will travel to Aperture Gallery in New York from December 13, 2014 to January 29, 2015.
