We caught up with actress Violett Beane in Los Angeles to chat about her latest projects, summertime beauty secrets and more. She recently moved to New York City to begin production on the upcoming CBS drama God Friended Me, premiering this fall. Also keep an eye out for the beautiful vegan and PETA supporter’s film Truth or Dare releasing on DVD and Blu-ray July 17th.
Tina: When you do your own makeup what are your steps?
Violett: I always start with a clean canvas, so cleansing and moisturizing are a must! In my daily life, I stick to very minimal makeup using only a little concealer and Boy Brow from Glossier. If I’m going to an event or something similar, I do either a smokey eye or do a fun pop of color. Whatever I end up with, I love to try new things and be unique!
Tina: Given your vegan lifestyle, do you have any new product obsessions? Do you find yourself sharing some products with makeup artists on set?
Violett: I’ve recently switched over to using all cruelty-free makeup and skincare, and it feels amazing! There are so many amazing brands out there with products that really work. One of my favorite skincare brands is True Botanicals. They have a very impressive line of skincare products for all ages. I love talking with the artists I work with and it helps me discover new brands as well. Hourglass is one of my favorite makeup brands and they offer a wide range of skin tones as well!
Tina: When do you feel the most comfortable and confident?
Violett: When I’m thriving creatively. Anytime I’m acting or working on a concept for a short film or series, I feel like I’m really myself and that gives me confidence.
Tina: Do you have any beauty or style icons that inspire you?
Violett: I love Margot Robbie’s … everything. No, but really, I feel like she carries herself with such honesty and compassion and her styling and glam are always stunning and unique.
