On October 9th, the 9th annual GLA gala, a unique platform that brings together leaders in business, entertainment, and science, was held at Cipriani 25 Broadway in lower Manhattan. Guests at the inspirational event supporting GLA’s mission to conquer the insidious disease featured 2024 Honorees, Peter Thomas Roth, a Lyme warrior and founder and CEO of Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care, Robert Kobre, the GLA Chairman Emeritus, and GLA Executive and Research Advisory Committee Member, and Kelly Hero Awardee, Dr. Jeffrey Morrison. The gala was hosted by Master of Ceremonies, Rosanna Scotto, Host of Good Day New York, with featured speaker, and GLA ambassador, Law & Order star Christopher Meloni, culminating with an unforgettable performance by the musical icon Sheila E., the Queen of the Percussion, who performed her hits including “A Love Bizarre.”
Guests, including Sex & The City creator Candace Bushnell, Dr. Nick Perricone, and fashion designer Nicole Miller dined on dishes including homemade spinach and cheese cannelloni, prime roast ribeye steak, and desserts including tiramisu, cheesecake, and almond cookies.
The evening’s live auction featured exclusive experiences like trips to Scotland and Southern California and a meet-and-greet with actor Erich Bergen at BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical, and a coveted on-set experience with Christopher Meloni, was a tremendous success, generating significant support for the cause. Thanks to the generosity of the attendees, a remarkable impact was made throughout the night.
Other notable guests included Bravolebrities Ramona Singer and Jenn Fessler, model Michele Hicks, style expert Gretta Monahan, actor and humorist George Hahn, actor Mariah Strongin, model Alex Lundqvist, Untitled’s EIC Indira Cesarine, and many others.
Awareness and funding of Lyme disease are more important than ever, with a record number of cases reported. According to the CDC there are more than 500,000 new cases of Lyme disease each year in the U.S. Support can make a difference—for patients today and tomorrow. Global Lyme Alliance’s mission is to cure Lyme and other tick-borne diseases through innovative research, awareness, and by empowering the patient voice.
GLA has gained national prominence for funding some of the most urgent and promising research in the field, having awarded over $20 million to date through its research programs. GLA supports patients at every stage of their journey, from helping them find Lyme-literate physicians to connecting them with peer mentors and providing a wealth of information on its website. GLA also empowers volunteers through its ambassador program to raise awareness, create fundraising events, and advance GLA’s mission.
