Pier 94
55th Street and 12th Avenue, NYC
March 30 – April 2, 2017
Next week marks the return of The Photography Show, presented by AIPAD (the Association of International Photography Art Dealers). This year, The Show moves to a new location, making its debut at Pier 94. From March 30 – April 2nd, more than 115 galleries from around the world will exhibit contemporary, modern, and 19th-century photographs as well as photo-based art, video, and new media. A VIP Vernissage will be held on March 29th from 2:00-5:00pm, followed by a public Vernissage from 5:00-9:00pm.
The 37th edition of the show will feature an expanded program of exhibitions and events, including four new sections – Salon, Gallery, Positions, and Discovery. Each will offer work from established and new AIPAD members and first-time exhibitors, as well as younger galleries. Talks are schedules from more than a dozen prominent curators, collectors, artists, and journalists. Also featured will be special exhibitions on loan from the noted collections of Artur Walther, Martin Z. Margulies, and Madeleine P. Plonsker. A video installation entitled Path Infinitum, featuring the work of Colleen Plumb will be projected over the entire glass entryway to the Show. The AIPAD Screening Room will feature films that photographers have made over the years and photographer Lucien Samaha will make portraits of fairgoers with the world’s first digital camera, a prototype from Kodak labs, at the Show. In addition, more than 30 book sellers and publishers will also be represented at the Show.
