Step into the “Wild Wild World” of fashion and technology with PRIVATE POLICY‘s Fall/ Winter 24’ New York Fashion Week collection. Designers Haoran Li and Siying Qu drew inspiration from the “untamed spirit” of America’s 19th century Wild West and society’s current state with the emergence of artificial intelligence technologies.
From the moment attendees stepped into the venue, they were transported into a realm where the rugged landscapes of the Wild West met the sleek innovation of the digital age. The stage was set for a journey through time and space, where traditional ranch workwear seamlessly merged with cutting-edge design elements.
The collection used innovative techniques such as raised 3D silicone textured surfaces and metal ball chain bead weaving to create a striking contrast of distressed denim and printed plaid cotton, which struck out against the soft, romantically draped fabrics and high-shine metal hardware. Just like the Wild West and Technology, the pieces had a juxtaposition of textures, colors, and fabrics while remaining true to cowboy aesthetics.
As the show came to a close, it was clear that Private Policy had succeeded in creating more than just a fashion collection; they had crafted an immersive experience that challenged perceptions and sparked conversations. “Wild Wild World” dared to imagine a future where tradition and innovation converge, where the past meets the present, and where the boundaries of possibility are constantly being pushed.
