VIVIENNE WESTWOOD: RED LABEL COLLECTION VIDEO
Vivienne Westwood chose Daisy Lowe to lead her models for her Red Label Spring 2011 show. Westwood used the show to highlight the work of the international human rights charity, Reprieve. To support the charity, Vivienne had created a necklace and pendent of a heart symbolizing hope which models wore down the catwalk. Models had their faces painted like warriors, with glass shaped pencil dresses, cowl necklines and tailoring. Not quite sure what the makeup had to do with the fashion direction, as the rather conservative (for Westwood) clothes didn’t seem to warrant such out there make-up. Overall the collection was a creative disappointment compared to Vivienne Westwood’s usual dramatic flair, from everything to the basic white catwalk to the simplicity of the clothing and designs, although most likely will do well with sales.
