DESIGNER JAMES LONG INTERVIEWED BY INDIRA CESARINE
The Fall 2012 Fashion East runway show supports emerging designers giving them a chance to show in front of talent scouts and industry insiders. This year James Long presented his third and final collection for Fashion East, confirming himself as a gifted designer of both women’s and menswear. The collection showed a number of intarsia knits on jackets, dresses, and even pant legs that were embedded with gold and hand-knit sleeves. Luxe quilted leather paired with velvet, red metallic, and gilded fringe demonstrated Long’s adeptness at modern construction and the mixing of patterns and texture. Long has already become known internationally for his menswear, and now he has brought that same strong, directional design aesthetic to his women’s Fall 2012 collection.
