THE MANY LOOKS OF ELIZABETH LAIL

Untitled caught up with the luminous Elizabeth Lail as she started her press tour for her new show You airing Sunday nights on Lifetime. She plays Guinevere Beck, an NYU graduate student studying poetry, alongside co-stars Penn Badgley and Shay Mitchell.

We had a chat on all things style and beauty, and snapped some fun pics! With some wig witchery the ethereal blonde transformed into an auburn pixie cutie and a brunette bombshell.

Elizabeth, indeed, makes a divine canvas for many looks.

Tina: Would you say there are any similarities style-wise between you and your character Guinevere Beck in “You?”

Elizabeth: I think my style is a bit more varied compared to Beck’s. We do both love a good plaid flannel. Beck’s style has also inspired mine. The incredible designer for our show introduced me to the French Tuck, Beck’s signature and now mine.

Tina: Can you share how you felt in the brunette bombshell wig, compared to the auburn pixie cut?

Elizabeth: The change of hair completely informed my entire body. It’s amazing how transformative it can be. The long dark hair made me feel sultry and mysterious, while the pixie cut brought out playful movement.

I realized that both those sides are parts of me that aren’t always presented to the world. It’s wild to think how defining our hair is for ourselves and others.

Tina: Do you enjoy jumping into new characters and eras through changes in makeup, hair, and style?

Elizabeth: I really enjoy it. I love feeling as if I’m in another time. I immediately begin to transport myself into a story that my imagination creates. It’s what I did growing up, and I feel very lucky I still get to express myself in that way as an adult.

Tina: Who are your favorite iconic beauties?

Elizabeth: Katharine Ross in The Graduate. I’ve always thought she was so beautiful. I love the makeup and hair of that time.

Tina: You have the smoothest glowing complexion! Do you have a go-to skincare routine?

Elizabeth: I am obsessed with skin care at the moment. My skin is very sensitive and if you touch me I turn red. I use an Azulene Calming Mask by Mario Bedescu every night. I love, love, love Tata Harper’s Resurfacing Mask and the Huxley Secret of Sahara Mask. Those products really help me glow. I also find the better I manage my stress and the more water I drink, the happier my skin is!

Tina: What beauty product is always in your bag?

Elizabeth: I always have sunscreen in my bag. I’ve recently been using Supergoop’s Invincible Powdered Sunscreen as extra protection in the middle of the day.
