May 5 – 28, 2016
“Art LeadHER,” a group show showcasing works by fifteen female artists, will be on display at the Joseph Gross Gallery May 5 – 28, 2016 in New York City. The work from these contemporary artists spans various stages of their careers and highlights the characteristics of working female artists in the contemporary art market.
The contemporary female artists that will be participating in the group show include Alison Mosshart (known for being the singer of The Kills + The Dead), Anne Faith Nicholls, Angie Crabtree, Diana Munoz (DCM), Ingrid Baars, Karmimadeebora McMillan, Kit King, Kristin Farr, Lacy Barry, Lala Abaddon, Laurel DeWitt, Meredith Marsone, Monica Canilao, Sandra Chevrier, and Swoon, who was featured in The Untitled Magazine’s #GirlPower Issue.
There will be twenty-five works on display that include portraiture, street art, sculpture and photography. “Art LeadHer” will be curated by its founder, Mashonda Tifrere, who founded the platform back in March. Tifrere has created a space that celebrates women in the art world through events and art education classes.
The exhibit will commence with an opening on Thursday, May 5th, from 6-8PM and will remain on view during Frieze Week from May 3rd through 8th. For the opening “Art LeadHer” has collaborated with Apple and Beats by Dre to give guests the ultimate exhibit experience. The companies will provide iPads and headphones to the guests so they can experience exclusive, intimate footage of the artists at work. Viewers will also get to attend events where they can speak with the artists and community group members.
