Joseph Gross Gallery presents Fire Power,  Alison Mosshart’s first solo exhibition.

Mosshart, also known as “VV”, the co-founder and songwriter of  The Kills and lead vocalist of The Dead Weather, is a self-taught artist whose work has been described as “personal, intuitive, and responsive but not over-thought.” The show includes 127 never-before exhibited pieces, from drawings, paintings, and mixed media, to tapestries that tell stories of Mosshart’s life on the road.   These pieces pay homage to her time en route both thematically and materially.

Mosshart has always created work while on tour, but she recently got to establish her own studio space, which has allowed her to create larger scale works. The work in Fire Power glorifies the transience of life on the road, with each piece acting as a snapshot of a person, conversation, place, time or mood in Mosshart’s continuously mobile life.

Says Mosshart of her inspirations— “There are few things I find more freeing and romantic as bombing down a highway.”

Mosshart’s art was previously featured in a group exhibit, Push It, in 2014 at ArtNowNY (founded by Joseph Gross).
