The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has opened an exhibition to showcase over 150 outfits, sketches and accessories from French fashion designer Thierry Mugler. Most of the pieces, produced between 1977 and 2014, have been restored and exhibited for the first time in the presentation of “Thierry Mugler: Couturissime.” So far since its opening in March, the exhibit has attracted more than 200,000 visitors.

Mugler is credited for revolutionizing the fashion industry through his sculptural creations, cited as both futuristic and elegant. Working in haute couture with materials like faux fur, latex and metal, Mugler has been worn by iconic artists like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and David Bowie. He has also explored color, iridescence and dramatic details for costumes worn during Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity.

Rounding out the exhibition are hundreds of rare prints from some of the most iconic names in fashion photography and artists, including Guy Bourdin, Dominique Issermann and Paolo Roversi.
